Firearm offences up in Notts

“FIREARMS offences in Notts rose by nearly 20% in the past year, according to new Home Office figures. There were 240 offences, excluding air weapons, between April 1 2007 and March 31 2008.

The figure is an 18% rise on the 196 firearms offences in 2006/07.

The figure is also higher than the 233 offences recorded in 2003/04, when Nottingham was suffering unprecedented levels of gun crime.

Responding to the increase, Deputy Chief Constable Howard Roberts said: “Since its peak in 2004/05, Notts Police has worked hard to tackle the problem of gun crime in the county, recording successive falls in the number of firearms incidents in both 2005/06 and 2006/07.”

It’s a shame really. The city is fab but statistics like this put it in an extremely ugly light.

  2. Firearms says:

These types of violence or possession of Firearms can be avoided by tough act like HR-45 in USA. USA government just passed a HR-45 act to have a database of Firearms owners which contains photo, residential address, finger prints of Firearms owners. I think by applying this type of act absolutely decrease offences.
