The directors of the Nottingham Lace Centre Ltd have today announced they are taking steps to wind up operations unless further support is forthcoming in the next few weeks.
In a statement, the directors say the closure is being considered due to falling sales “in spite of strenuous efforts” by staff.
The directors state: “The fall off in sales over recent months, due in part to a lack of tourists coming to the city together with the dire state of the retail trade, has made the position very difficult.”
The Lace Centre, in Castle Road, first opened in 1980. Over the years it has attracted customers from across the world interested in Nottingham’s lace industry.”
