Below is a letter in Friday’s Evening Post.
“The architectural newspaper, Building Design, has awarded Nottingham University’s Jubilee Campus building runner-up spot in its 2009 Carbuncle Cup.
From what I can see we may have a contender for 2010 in the City’s art centre in Weekday Cross.
Way back I was taught lace design and although my efforts were likened to wrought iron work I did come to appreciate that any lace design is enhanced by a contrasting backing material.
The lace motif on the new arts building is backed by concrete. In my view it is a failed effort to relieve a monotonous frontage.”
