Avoid Travelodge (Riverside) Hotel

Some very bad reviews of the Travelodge (Riverside) in Nottingham. Normally when reading reviews of hotels there are some good and bad reviews. However all 12 reviews on the Trip Advisor website are bad ones. Some of the complaints about the lack of cleanliness makes the hotel sound disgusting!

“The sofa bed in the room had a huge white stain (pherhaps vomit?) covering it and the carpet was unclean. The walls had loads of crayon marks and black patches. The lampshades were also adorned with brown stains and two of the lights didn’t work!”

“The bathroom was also quite jaded and not very clean. Limescale covered the tiles – the bath, floor and shower curtain looked extremely grimy! ”

“There was a lot of dust on the unit the TV sits on. There was a used cotton wool bud in the bin in the bathroom & a sweetie wrapper on the bathroom floor. When we pulled out the sofa bed there were more sweetie wrappers behind that. There were also some bad stains on the duvet that looked like a previous guest had split a cup of coffee all over it.”

“Be under no illusion that this Travelodge offers stunning views of the River Trent, it is actually located about 1 mile from the city centre near a Park and Ride car park (handy for day time trips into the city), on a large industrial estate which is home to TNT and Comet distribution warehouses, so expect traffic noise throughout the night. I certainly couldn’t see any river close by!”
“The lift stank. Got a room at the front of the hotel and there is a “chilled food” warehouse across the car park and street. This is a 24 hour operation and was quite noisy at night with lorries and the constant sound of industrial blowers.”

“filthy, had to clean bathrooms ourselves. The bleach wipes we used all ended up black, with hairs on..urine and pubic hair around bottom of toilet…previous guest crusty boxer shorts on bathroom floor”

“The following day I came up with 19 bites all over my body. There were so many bites I was signed off work for two days. My friend who shared the bed with me that night was also bitten.”

“if you like drunks and fights in the car park, this is for you!”

One Response to Avoid Travelodge (Riverside) Hotel

    Hi there,

Six months after your post I had the misfortune to spend a couple of days in Nottingham. Alas, I stayed at the T/Lodge Riverside. The event was so horrible I left early on the second morning, after I could no longer take the grime, the noise from the factory opposite, and the black and orange mould in the bathroom. My report – and many others in the same vein, is now also on the Trip Advisor web site.

Incidentally, Nottingham was a complete dump. The town center appears to have been planned by drunks and modelled on an open plan prison, the streets were filthy from dog mess and people spitting, and the one restaurant we went to – a French style ‘bistro’ in Mansfield Rd, Sherwood had a filthy floor, filthy cutlery, and salad dressing bottles on the table with their necks covered in coagulated brown goo. It was utterly depressing and ghastly, as was the food, complete with packet salad, and frozen ‘roast potatoes.

The locals in cars seem to delight in driving around the barren canyons of the town center like drunken maniacs, and the entire ‘city’ has the auro of a 1960’s social experiment given over completely to chavvy morons. It can’t possibly be the case, but it was an utterly horrible couple of days. I was so glad to leave.

I never want to go to Nottingham again. A pity because my chum who lives there is really nice.

How much bad press does it take before a town takes notice and shapes up?

    Commiserations.

    best

    Sue
